Word of the Week: Meta Tags
Meta Tags – Keywords and descriptions that are included in the coding of Web pages and serve as content indicators for Web crawlers. In the 1990s, search engines used meta tags to rank pages, and marketers would use these keywords and phrases to improve the search engine optimization (SEO) of Web pages. Today, meta tags are still used and factored into search engine rankings, but not as heavily as in the past. Instead factors such as page visits, content quality and inbound links impact the rankings more directly than meta tags.
